Live Recipe Sharing & Web Links

Share recipes and shopping lists via interactive web links and QR codes with step timers, serving scaling, and high-resolution photos.

Whether you’re sending a favorite dish to a friend, cooking with guests, or splitting up the shopping list at the supermarket, Minthee makes sharing effortless without requiring anyone else to create an account or install the app.

Recipe Live Share Links let you share any dish from your library as an interactive web page or QR code:

  1. Open any dish in your library and tap the share icon (Live Recipe Share).
  2. Minthee generates a shareable web link (https://minthee.com/dish/{token}) and a scannable QR code.
  3. Send the link through any messaging app (WhatsApp, Signal, SMS, email) or display the QR code for someone nearby to scan.

Interactive Cooking in Any Web Browser

When someone opens your shared recipe link, they don’t see a static screenshot or text block. They get a full-featured, responsive cooking companion in their browser:

  • Zero App Download or Sign-In: Works instantly in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Samsung Internet on iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows.
  • Interactive Ingredient Checklist: Tap ingredients to cross them off as you prep.
  • Dynamic Serving Scaling: Adjust servings up or down with a tap; ingredient amounts scale automatically.
  • Interactive Step Timers: Cooking timers run right inside the web page, chiming when steps finish.

1-Tap Import into Minthee

If the recipient also uses Minthee on Android, tapping the Import to Minthee button on the web page opens the app and imports the entire recipe into their personal collection—including preparation times, categories, tags, and step instructions.

Photo Privacy Toggle & Instant Revocation

  • Include Photos Toggle: You control what is shared. Leave photos off for a fast text recipe, or toggle photos on to upload and share your high-definition food photography and per-step pictures.
  • Host Link Revocation: You stay in total command of your recipes. If you ever want to unshare a dish or regenerate the link with different settings, tap Stop Sharing. Minthee immediately invalidates the remote token, permanently removing public access.

Need to split up at the grocery store? Minthee also includes live links for your shopping list:

  • Tap Share Live Link on the Grocery screen to generate a live collaboration URL (https://minthee.com/list/{token}).
  • Send it to your spouse or roommate. They can open it directly in their mobile browser with no login required.
  • Real-Time Cross-Off: As one of you checks off items in the dairy aisle, the item crosses off on the other person’s phone in real time (<100ms).
  • Sessions are completely ephemeral (auto-expiring after 48 hours) and can be terminated by the host at any moment. For complete details, see the Aisle-Sorted Grocery List Guide.

3. The “Compress Once & Forever” Image Guarantee

Food photography is central to the cooking experience. Many services aggressively compress and downscale your pictures, turning mouth-watering dishes into blurry, pixelated thumbnails over time.

Minthee enforces a Zero Generational Loss Guarantee:

  1. The Phone Is the Sole Authority: Only your phone decides image quality, encoding photos once in high-efficiency WebP at Quality 95 with resolutions up to Quad HD (2560px).
  2. Compress Once and Forever: Images are compressed strictly once when you take a photo, pick from your gallery, or adjust a crop. They are never re-compressed during sharing, cloud backup, or database updates.
  3. Bit-for-Bit Cloud Storage: When you back up your library or share a recipe with photos, your food photos are stored as opaque binary files. Every byte uploaded is identical to every byte stored and downloaded.
  4. Full-Screen Zoom: When you tap a photo in the recipe viewer, Minthee loads the original high-resolution image, allowing you to pinch-to-zoom into seasonings, grill marks, and textures with crystal clarity.

4. Multi-Photo Dishes & Per-Step Cooking Guides

Your recipes aren’t limited to a single photo:

  • Recipe Gallery: Attach multiple photos per dish to showcase plating, crust details, and side dishes.
  • Per-Step Cooking Photos: Attach dedicated photos to individual cooking steps (e.g. kneading dough, caramelizing onions, or rolling sushi). All step photos, instructions, and timer durations are preserved in your backups and live recipe shares.

5. Managing Starter & Sample Dishes

When you first install Minthee, the app comes with starter recipes to help you explore features:

  • If you want a tidy library with only your own recipes, go to Settings > Your Data and tap Delete all sample dishes.
  • This safely removes demo and benchmark dishes while leaving your custom-created, imported, or backed-up recipes 100% untouched.

Continue exploring Minthee’s data safety and kitchen organization features:

  • Backing Up Your Data: Learn how to create point-in-time cloud backup snapshots or offline archives, and how to safely restore with 1-tap undo.
  • Aisle-Sorted Grocery List: Learn how weekly meal plans convert into aisle-organized shopping lists, pantry stock tracking, barcode scanning, and live grocery collaboration.
  • Universal Web Recipe Importer: Discover how to import recipes directly from any website or food blog with schema parsing.
