Everything you need to know
Answers about our offline-first architecture, recommendation engine, and launch timeline.
How does Minthee suggest meals?
Minthee calculates custom recommendations directly on your device using a weighted scoring formula based on three factors: your personal 1–10 star rating, the elapsed time since you last cooked the dish relative to its target repeat interval, and optional category filtering (such as quick weeknight dinners or healthy meals). No algorithms force sponsored recipes into your feed.
How does Live Recipe Sharing work and how long are links active?
Live Recipe Sharing lets you share a clean, interactive web view of any recipe with step-by-step instructions, ingredient checklists, and photos. To preserve privacy and prevent forgotten links from lingering online, every shared link is strictly ephemeral and automatically expires after 12 hours with a live countdown timer displayed on the web page. You can also revoke and invalidate any active share link instantly at any time from the app's settings.
How does the Pantry Inventory and Stock Tracker work?
Minthee includes a full Pantry management system organized by supermarket aisles. You can track on-hand staples and perishables, record expiration dates, and set low-stock warnings. When you plan meals or compile your grocery checklist, the app cross-references your pantry stock so you never buy items you already have at home.
Can I scan retail barcodes for nutrition facts?
Yes. Minthee integrates an instant on-device camera barcode scanner powered by Open Food Facts. Scan packaged foods to automatically view calorie density, Nutri-Score grades, and macronutrients (proteins, carbs, fats), and link them directly to your pantry items or grocery list.
Is Minthee offline-first, and do I need an account?
Minthee is 100% offline-first. Your entire recipe catalog, cooking timers, weekly meal planner, pantry stock, and aisle-sorted grocery checklists run completely on your device using a local Room SQLite database without needing an account or active internet connection.
Can I attach multiple photos to my recipes?
Yes! Minthee supports multi-photo galleries per dish. You can add step-by-step cooking photos, final presentation pictures, or snapshots of handwritten family cookbook cards using Android's privacy-focused Photo Picker.
Can I import recipes from websites?
Yes. Minthee includes an on-device URL recipe parser that extracts ingredients, preparation steps, cook times, and nutrition directly from Schema.org (JSON-LD) formatted recipe blogs and microdata, completely stripping away advertisements, tracking scripts, and personal essays.
How does encrypted cloud backup differ from continuous sync?
Your recipes always live safely on your device first. For backup and multi-device continuity, you can create client-side encrypted snapshots (AES-256-GCM) stored directly in your private Google Drive app folder, or use optional DishSync. Cloud restores are strictly non-destructive, protecting your existing local recipes with automatic safety snapshots.
Your kitchen, organized and stress-free.
